Blazemeter plugin is an extension of chrome browser which can record the http(s) traffic and generated a .jmx file which can be directly imported to Jmeter. It is an alternative of HTTP(s) TestScriptRecorder and is easier to use.
JMeter also has some templates which are already stored by default like Recording template, JDBC Test template. By using any of them, you can see required components getting added to your Test Plan automatically.
Web Test Plan and FTP Test Plan Templates can be utilized effectively to create your own test plans.
